Apereo Individual Memberships

NOTE: The following membership information, definitions, and benefits are proposed and in line with the Apereo Bylaws, Article III, Membership.

Individual Membership, "Friends of Apereo"

Individual Membership is only available at the "Individual" level. Eligible members are those who have either,

  1. paid for an individual membership by joining the "Friends of Apereo" program,
  2. submitted a Contributor's Licence Agreement as part of an Apereo project,
  3. served on an Apereo Project Management Committee (PMC), or
  4. are a current member or alumni of the Apereo Board of Directors.

Individual Membership Benefits

  • Voting in the Apereo Board of DIrectors' election for the Individual Member seat.

Membership On-Boarding and Workflow

New Individual Memberships through the "Friends od Apereo" Registration

  1. CiviCRM includes "community@apereo.org" (cc'd) and "staff@apereo.org" (bcc'd) on receipts sent to new/updated Friends of Apereo members. PayPal emails "treasurer@apereo.org" of payments collected through the Friends of Apereo registration and payment process.
  2. The Community and Membership Manager confirms the member's contact information in CiviCRM and that they are included in the "FoA - All" and "FoA-Active" groups.
  3. The Community and Membership Manager confirms the member has joined the Friends of Apereo LinkedIn group.
    1. If the new member has not joined the Friends of Apereo LinkedIn group, the Community and Membership Manager sends an invite to the new member through LinkedIn, "Invite Connections."
    2. If the new member is not connected with the Community and Membership Manager, then send the URL for the LinkedIn group to the new member in the email referenced in the next step.
  4. Create @apereo.org email.
    1. Notify info@apereo.org to verify or create an Apereo email for the new user. Format should be first.last@apereo.org
  5. Send email new member confirming new address (Email Template here)

Associated memberships through Apereo PMC Membership

  1. PMC membership is emailed annually (see Apereo Annual Calendar) to the Community and Membership Manager (community@apereo.org) by Apereo project contacts.
  2. Community and Membership Manager updates member contact information in CiviCRM (https://apereo.civicrm.org/)
    1. Find or create the contact information for the PMC member.
    2. Update/include "Groups" information to include
      1. "Apereo PMC Members
      2. "FoA - All"

Associated memberships through Apereo Board Membership

  1. Board membership is emailed annually (see Apereo Annual Calendar) to the Community and Membership Manager (community@apereo.org) by the Apereo Executive Director.
  2. Community and Membership Manager updates member contact information in CiviCRM (https://apereo.civicrm.org/)
    1. Find the contact information for the Apereo Board member.
    2. Update/include "Groups" information to include
      1. "FoA - All"

Associated memberships through Apereo Board alumni.

  1. Board alumni membership should not need to be updated, as Apereo Board Members should already have FoA membership through their previous board service.
  2. The Community and Membership Manager may review or confirm the member contact information in CiviCRM (https://apereo.civicrm.org/)
    1. Find the contact information for the Apereo Board member.
    2. Confirm "Groups" information to include
      1. "FoA - All"

When a person registers and pays for FOA, they are added to the FOA group
